The Regional Manager, Mr M Iqbal Boolaky made a history of how he lived the 30 years of BCS in Mauritius. He shared his experiences, difficulties and hard work to get the BCS to the status as it is today.  He also talked of the criteria and standard of these prestigious Awards in Mauritius. These competitions are based on the same footing as the IT Industry Awards of UK.

Iqbal said that in the past years BCS were offering only Three(3) awards but this year the number of awards has been increased to nine(9). He said that the entries were of very high quality and it has been a challenge to finalise on the winners.

Mr Paul Fletcher FRSA, FBCS - BCS Group Chief Executive

Paul joined BCS in 2014 after ten years at RM Education where he was an Executive Director and Group Managing Director of the Education Technology Division.

He is responsible for the leadership of all functions of the organisation including finance, membership, marketing, education outreach, information systems, operations, customer services. He led a review of strategy to refocus BCS back to its’ underlying charitable purpose of “Making IT Good for Society”.

In his speech, Paul said ” Organisations of all shapes and sizes are now more reliant on technology than ever before. The way we work, interact and transact is changing very rapidly, and the transformation being wrought by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, blockchain, cloud and other technologies makes IT the most exciting place to be right now”.

He also said “IT is about people. And BCS wants qualified, ethical, people – those who are skilled and trustworthy – to lead the charge in developing these opportunities. To support this, we developed Chartered Status for IT professionals (CITP). This is the benchmark which we established to give IT professionals the opportunity to be recognised in the same way as many other professions such as Accounting, Law or Medicine”.
